Mandan High School has hired Peder Stenslie as the new girls hockey coach. He will replace Mike Jones, who resigned from his position this spring.
Coach Stenslie is a native of Stanley North Dakota. He graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., in 1985, with a degree in sociology. In 1992 he received an elementary teaching degree from the University of Mary. He has been a sixth grade teacher at Mandan Public School ever since.
Over the years he has coached mites and 12U girls teams for the Mandan Hockey Club. During the last two years he has helped out the MHS girls varsity hockey program as a volunteer assistant coach. Peder and his wife, Tone-Lise, have three children, all presently attending Mandan public schools. They live in Mandan.
Mandan Activities Director, Lorell Jungling, says, “We are excited to have Coach Stenslie as our head girls hockey coach. His love of the game, teaching ability, rapport with students and discipline will serve our program well.”
